Gypsy Quilt

I am finally working on my "Gypsy Girl" quilt that I bought the fabric and pattern for probably 7 or 8 years ago. I just fell in love with this fabric from Heather Bailey's "Fresh Cut" collection. Then I saw the "Gypsy Girl" Pattern in Heather Mulder Peterson's book Fat Quarter Five and I knew they would be a perfect pair. Now you might ask... umm why wait 8 years to make it? Good question, I put the fabric in a container (trying to be organized) and then it got quilting magazines on top of it and well, I forgot all about it. Super glad I found it! Happy Quilting!

Today I learned to Foundation Paper Piece

Bird of Paradise Block
Last week  I bought the Vintage Quilt Revival book and after glancing in it, I got super excited about all the great quilt designs it provides. But I had never Foundation Paper Pieced before and that I had to remedy. Although not all the projects in that book require paper piecing, most of them do and I want to make them all ha ha ha.

So today I did the first lesson in the Craftsy Class "Mastering Foundation Paper Piecing" by Carol Doak. It was the Bird of Paradise block and instead of making just one, I made four to make this cool design. It's going to be a Pot holder.

Ok, I am ready to go! New skills acquired and I am ready to jump into my new book!

Happiness is Quilting all day

Yesterday I got an idea in my head for a quilt, so I sketched it out in my quilting design journal and pulled some fabric from my stash. I simply love those teal greens and I thought putting some gold yellow and greys would be a nice combination. There is something freeing about quilting as I go. :) I'm off to making my quilt.

Happy Quilting
